Reader-oriented approaches in modern libraries

The library of Ilia State University hosted more than 100 librarians from all over the country on May 5. The principal topic of the meeting was: “Reader-oriented approaches in modern libraries”.
The staffers of Ilia State university library shared their experience with colleagues in the following areas:
- Library services and their popularization
- A librarian as a researcher
- The importance of scientific databases and electronic resources to the university libraries.
Their conversation also touched upon those innovations which our university library tries to introduce, so that it can be maximally reader-oriented and create such conditions as are favorable for high quality research and teaching process.
It is of crucial importance for the development of libraries that people employed in this field share their experience with other colleagues and try to encourage innovations.
A library week that is held since 2002 by the initiative of Georgia library association serves exactly this purpose.
The aforementioned meeting took place within the closing event of the 2017 library week.
